The purpose of this study is to explore the effects of imago psychotherapy on Abstinence Likelihood Inventory and Self-concept of alcoholics who are hospitalized.
The period of this research was from May 10, 2000 to October 12, 2000.
The subjects were 12 alcoholics who are hospitalized in T mental hospital located in Taegu City. The research design was a one-group pretest- posttest design and the theoretical framework was psychodynamic theory. Collected data were analyzed by paired t-test with SPSS program.
The results of this research were as follows:
1. There was no significant difference of Abstinence Likelihood Inventory scores between before and after treatment.
2. There was significant difference in self concept in interpersonal relationship ability scale.
I would like to make following suggestions with the results of this study.
*Imago psychotherapy should be applied to outpatients, and then the effects of the therapy can be verified.
*With repeated studies with different subjects, group psychotherapy should be a professional nursing intervention area.
